From 11 to 15 July, Fr. Boniface Hill of Downside Abbey, and Fr. Jean-Patrice Coulon MSFS of Holy Ghost Church in Yeovil, will lead 32 pilgrims during their pilgrimage to Fatima. The pilgrims will be present at the very important Procession and International Mass on 13 July, when those present will especially remember the Blessed Virgin Mary’s message to the three shepherd children given on this day in 1917.
What a superb day! Some 360 people gathered from across the four counties of our diocese for this annual Diocesan Day. The family of the diocese was being celebrated… and it was good to bring people together. Folk started arriving at about 9.15am to find bouncy castles and slides, the mobile farm, caterers and hosts in preparation mode. It was wonderful to see familiar faces and new coming together, signing in and getting all prepped for the day ahead.
Planning well ahead, Bishop Declan is set to lead a pilgrimage to the Holy Land in 2018 (22 – 30 October) staying three nights in Galilee, two nights in Bethlehem, and three nights in Jerusalem. Initial costings indicate a figure of £1210 per person (based on two people sharing). We’ve always had a superb time in the Holy Land and it’ll be good to look forward to another trip in the autumn of 2018.
