The Mass is a great gathering of the whole diocesan family, with people coming together from so many of our parishes. Bishop Declan blesses the oil of catechumens, the oil of the sick, and the oil of Chrism. These oils are to form an important part of the sacramental life of our communities during the year.
Father Michael Fountaine, Director of the Clifton Diocese Department for Liturgy writes on the Chrism Mass.
Last year's Chrism Mass was reported here on cliftondiocese.com along with a transcript of Bishop Declan's homily. We also have a reports fromthe 2010 2009 2008 and 2007 Chris Masses. Three reports from 2006 and two from 2005.
You can listen to BBC Radio Bristol and BBC Somerset's report from the 2006 Chrism Mass in the multimedia panel on the right. Trevor Fry talks with many people at the Mass.
