Chrism Mass

8 April 2009

Bishop Declan celebrated the Chrism Mass in the Cathedral this morning at 11.00 am.  A packed Cathedral saw people and priests coming from all over the West of England.

The Mass is a great gathering of the whole diocesan family, with people coming together from so many of our parishes.  Bishop Declan blesses the oil of catechumens, the oil of the sick, and the oil of Chrism.  These oils are to form an important part of the sacramental life of our communities during the year.

Father Michael Fountaine, Director of the Clifton Diocese Department for Liturgy writes on the Chrism Mass.

Pictures from today’s Mass can be seen in the image gallery on the right.  The pictures were taken by Catherine Roperto.

In our multimedia panel on the right you can listen to the Bishop's Chrism Mass homily.
