23 June 2010
Bishop Declan invites you to come to the Cathedral this evening (23 June) for the launch of ‘Parishes in Communion for Mission’. Following comprehensive consultation this new booklet outlines our vision for the future organisation of parishes.
Bishop Declan said: “Our parishes are being encouraged to work more closely with one another in the mission of the Church. All God’s faithful people are being asked to look again at what is the essential role of the priest and the responsibility of every individual Catholic as a member of the Body of Christ.
“I would like to thank you and everyone who took part in the consultation which resulted in the draft report presented to you last October. As a result of this further consultation and your written feedback important changes have been made to the original proposals.”
The launch is in Clifton Cathedral on Pembroke Road, Bristol BS8 3BX. It begins at 7.30 pm. Tea and coffee will be available from 6.30pm in the Apostle Room for those who arrive early.
‘Parishes in Communion for Mission’ will be given out to anyone who would like a copy at tonight's launch. It will be available for download here on cliftondiocese.com from tomorrow.
Canon Bernard Massey chaired the committee that led the consultation. He speaks to us today in a special podcast explaining what ‘Parishes in Communion for Mission’ is, how so many people contributed to it and how our vision for the future organisation of parishes is the positive springboard for the future.
You can listen to Canon Bernard's podcast in the multimedia panel on the right.
