Ad Limina Papal Meeting

27 January 2010

Bishop Declan has met Pope Benedict XVI during his Ad Limina visit to The Vatican.

You can see pictures of Bishop Declan’s meeting with the Holy Father in our image gallery on the right.  The pictures are provided by L'Osservatore Romano (The Roman Observer).  L'Osservatore Romano is the newspaper that reports on the Pope’s public activities.

Bishop Declan’s meeting with the Holy Father is an important part of the Ad Limina.  Another key part of the visit is a pilgrimage to and the veneratatio the tombs of the Apostles Peter and Paul.  The final element of the Ad Limina is meetings and conversations with various departments of the Roman Curia.

You can read Bishop Declan’s pastoral message about the special visit.  The message was read and made available in all parishes on the weekend.

You can find out more about the history, role and purpose of the Ad Limina in our podcast published earlier this week.
