‘All Souls’ at Clifton Cathedral

A special sung Requiem Mass will be celebrated in Clifton Cathedral, Pembroke Road, Bristol at 7.30 pm on Thursday 2 November to mark ‘All Souls’.

All Souls is an important day in the calendar of the Catholic Church as it acts as a ‘Commemoration of the Faithful Departed’.

Canon Robert Corrigan, Cathedral Dean, will be celebrating the Mass. He said, "During the evening Mass candles will be lit and placed before the Altar to remember and pray for those who have died. It is a physical act of remembrance of someone who we may have loved and lost.

“However if you can’t join us for the Mass but wish to remember someone in this way the Cathedral will be open all day, and anyone is welcome to come in and leave a candle to be lit during this Mass on your behalf”

Catholics believe that death is not the end and that it is very important to remember those who have died.

The dead themselves need our prayers and this process of remembrance also helps those still living to celebrate and give thanks for the loved one who is no longer with them on earth. In turn, Catholics also ask their loved ones to pray for them and their needs.
