cliftondiocese.com brings you a special podcast from Sharpness dockside in Gloucestershire as we meet-up with an Apostleship of the Sea (AoS) volunteer who ministers to the visiting seafarers from across the globe.
The volunteers from Christ the King parish in Thornbury are an example of the ministry to be used in other small ports around the country.
We join AoS volunteer Pat Morrissey on the dockside in our special podcast which you can download in the multimedia panel on the right. You can get an idea of what Sharpness Dock is like by clicking in the image gallery on the right.
And don’t forget to look out for your copy of ‘Alongside’ the magazine for AoS supporters. It’s available in all parishes. Or you can download the Autumn 2008 edition in our multimedia panel on the right.
Sheila Bailey the AoS Director of Fundraising and Communications told cliftondiocese.com, "As a charity we rely on the enthusiasm and dedication of all our volunteers. These ship visitors working out of Sharpness docks are a classic example of the amazing job that all our ship visitors do. They make up the core workforce for us and without them we would not be able to reach the thousands of seafarers visiting our shores. We rely on the generous donations of our donors to allow us to support these volunteers and allow them to carry on their work. They do an amazing job and we would like to ensure they continue to do this. Thank you to our volunteers and to our generous supporters."
