Ascension Together

29 May 2009

Last week members of Churches Together in Wellington and District were up at the crack of dawn for the annual Ascension Day dawn service, held outside West Buckland Anglican Church.

Father Bob Rainbow of St John Fisher told cliftondiocese.com: “A creditable seven Catholics joined 30 people of many denominations at 6.30 am in the elevated churchyard, commanding a stunning view across the vale of Taunton Deane to the Brendon Hills 10 miles away.   The service had been prepared by local vicar, Reverend Margi Campbell; and different readings and prayers were made by leaders of the local Methodist, Anglican, charismatic and Catholic churches.

“Hymns were accompanied on guitar by Paddy Finnegan, organist at St John Fisher and Julia Tucker of St John Fisher’s choir, before everyone headed down to Wellington Methodist Church for a heartily-welcomed cooked breakfast prepared under head-chef Brian Tucker.”
