Ash Wednesday Scenes

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent during which we prepare to celebrate the Paschal Mystery.

Ashes were blessed and distributed as Masses throughout the Clifton Diocese yesterday. 

Our pictures, which can be viewed in the images panel on the right, come from Bristol’s St Mary-on-the-Quay and were taken at the lunchtime Mass yesterday at 12.15 pm.  They depict the church drawing a large congregation of people in Bristol city centre.
