Banana Bread for Bath University Students Feeds Minds as well as Bodies

Nina Wood, CAFOD Youth Volunteer at the University of Bath was joined by other members of the One World Society, to make sure that Fair Trade issues had a high profile on their campus throughout the month of March.

They put on three events during Fair Trade Fortnight.

On Friday 5 March they organised a public debate entitled:
“Third World farmers should be given preferential treatment over Western farmers.”

On Monday 6 March they made chocolate brownies, cakes and flapjacks, all with Fair Trade ingredients, to sell to other students.

On Friday 12 March they held a sponsored fast for CAFOD.

Nina’s picture shows her at the cake stall, with two helpers selling their produce and handing out leaflets about Fair Trade issues at the same time.

Nina says:

“As well as being delicious, the cakes raised awareness of Fair Trade goods. CAFOD benefited too. The cake sale and the sponsored fast together have raised £150.”
