Bishop Declan Ordains Deacons

30 January 2008

Bishop Declan travelled to St John’s Seminary at Wonersh near Guildford to ordain two deacons on their journeys to priesthood.

Tom Dubois is a student for the Clifton Diocese and Shaju Varkey is a student for the Southwark Archdiocese.  Bishop Declan celebrated the Mass of Ordination in the college’s Sacred Heart Chapel.

Tom said, "It's a great joy to have made this definitive commitment to Christ and to the people of the Diocese of Clifton. I very much look forward to exercising my diaconal ministry and continuing to prepare for ordination to priesthood."

Father Robert King, the Clifton Diocese Vocations Director said, “I congratulate Tom on his ordination to the diaconate and wish him well as he begins ordained life in our diocese.”

Several priests of the Clifton Diocese were present at the Mass to support Tom on his continuing journey to the diocesan priesthood.
