Bishop Declan Talks about the Ad Limina

6 February 2010

Bishop Declan has just returned from the Ad Limina visit to The Vatican.  He has made a special podcast to tell us about the visit which included a meeting with Pope Benedict XVI.

Bishop Declan recalls his meeting with the Holy Father who asked about the young people of our diocese and who was pleased to hear about our pastoral guidelines “Called to be a People of Hope”.

The photograph of Bishop Declan talking with the Pope whilst highlighting the location of our diocese on an atlas has already been sent to all of our parishes and schools.  It has also proved popular on cliftondiocese.com.  Now, in our podcast, Bishop Declan reveals what they were talking about at the time - telling the story of the picture you can see in the image gallery on the right.

As well as a one-to-one meeting with the Pope, Bishop Declan met with officials of the Roman Curia.  He tells us how this is an expression of belonging to the Universal Church.

Bishop Declan also discusses the Pope’s address to the bishops of England and Wales.  Bishop Declan speaks about the many points the Holy Father made in the address.  Some of which you may not have known about following the media coverage of the Pope’s address.

You can listen to the podcast in our multimedia panel on the right.
