Bishop Urges Us to Pray for and Support Pakistan

11 August 2010

Bishop Declan asks people in the Clifton Diocese to pray for and support the relief efforts in Pakistan.

Bishop Declan said: “Pictures and news from Pakistan tell of a people whose lives have been devastated and whose homes and livelihoods have been destroyed.  It is hard to imagine how over-whelming is the destruction caused by the flood waters.  Aid agencies, including CAFOD (Catholic Agency for Overseas Development), have come to the help of the Pakistan people.  They desperately need our material support and our prayers.  I would ask the people of our diocese to be generous with their response recognising that the people of Pakistan are our brothers and sisters in need.  That need will not just be for the present but will be long-term as they rebuild their country.”

Donations to the relief effort can also be made on CAFOD’s website.
