Brazil on a Bike for Father Leo

6 March 2009

Bath parishioner Dr Derek Indoe has been in touch with cliftondiocese.com from Brazil with news of what Father Leo Dolan is up to.  Father Leo is the Clifton Diocese priest who has ministered in Brazil for the past 35 years.  Dr Derek’s latest up-date gives us news the 71 year-old's off-road motorbike visit to an inaccessible place where local people have been denied their rights to land.

Dr Derek has been in South America for the past few weeks to be with Father Leo Dolan who is supporting landless people.

Dr Derek said in his most recent email: “Father Leo Dolan a trip on a motorbike to get pictures of Jequitiba - the original reason we went to see the Brazilian ambassador in London earlier in the year.

“Father Leo has not been on a motorbike for years and years.  I could not go with him because two of the bridges had broken down and a car could not get there.

“In the pictures I’ve emailed to cliftondiocese.com you will notice the site which was burned out last August.  And the case has still not been investigated and the huts are still burned.”

Dr Derek's previous report was published earlier today.

To find out how you can become more aware of Father Leo’s work in Brazil and get to know about the lives of fellow Catholics in South America you can use the special new address padreleo@cliftondiocese.com and make contact with Dr Derek.
