Bristol Fashion Shown in Traidcraft Show

Parishioners in Downend, Bristol have organised a special event showcasing an exciting range of Traidcraft fashions.

The Traidcraft Fashion show will take place on Friday 24 March in St Augustine of Canterbury Catholic School Hall on Boscombe Crescent, Downend between the Westerleigh and Badminton Roads. The event begins at 7.00 pm

The event will also be an opportunity to sample some mouth-watering dishes from around the globe.

The evening is the brain-child of the local Catholic parish’s Justice and Peace Group. Isabella Harding, a member of the St Augustine’s Justice and Peace Group said:

“We want to celebrate the wide variety of cultures represented in our parish community. Meals are a time honoured way of celebrating, so we wanted to invite people to share their favourite home recipes to provide a multicultural banquet. We have done it once before and the food was delicious.

“We also want to promote the excellent range of Traidcraft fashions and give many people the opportunity of buying clothes that directly benefit the producers.”

Father Bernard Massey, St Augustine’s Parish Priest, added: “This is the third time in the past few years that our Justice and Peace group has put on a fashion and food night and each time more and more people turn up. The public are becoming increasingly aware that fair trade now means good quality at a fair price. I’m sure the 24th will be another great night for all who come along.”

The evening begins with sharing food - bring your own wine, if you like. Soft drinks are will be available. The fashion show will then begin. The models come from the parish and are looking forward to demonstrating the quality of the Traidcraft fashion range. There will be plenty of opportunities to order clothes before the end of the evening.

The tickets are just £5.00 or £2.00 for a child, with a family ticket (two adults and two children) a bargain at £10.00. To buy your tickets please call Renuka McWilliams 0117 957 5580 or Isabella Harding 0117 983 7376 or drop into the parish office in Boscombe Crescent.
