Our Parish Priest who has the
St Maximillian Kolbe with St Edith Stein and the Holocaust Martyrs Chapel in his parish will be speaking about the dedication of that remarkable place of worship at Bristol’s
Holocaust Memorial Day event on Friday (27 January). A local parishioner will talk about his personal experience of the genocide in Eastern Congo.
St Maximillian Kolbe with St Edith Stein and the Holocaust Martyrs is on Alfoxton Road in Horfield, Bristol and is part of our inner-city parish St Nicholas of Tolentino. St Nick’s Parish Priest Father Richard McKay will talk about the chapel’s vision as a memorial to the victims and survivors of the Holocaust, under the patronage of the Polish Franciscan priest, St Maximilian Kolbe and also the Jewish woman who became a Carmelite nun who died in Auschwitz offering her life for her Jewish brothers and sisters.
St Nick’s parishioner Christian Karhare will talk about the crimes against humanity that have taken place for the past 13 years in the Democratic Republic of Congo and discuss what practical steps we can take to address some of the issues.
Christian and Father Richard are two of many speakers who’ll mark
Holocaust Memorial Day in Bristol at a special event the Council House on College Green. The event begins at 3.00 pm and conclude at 5.00 pm on Friday (27 January). All are welcome.
