25 June 2009
As
cliftondiocese.com reported on Tuesday (23 June) Weston-super-Mare’s Corpus Christi parish has celebrated its
80th anniversary. As part of the events the local Catenian Association made an important donation to a young parishioner who’s making a real difference to people in Paraguay.
After the anniversary Mass, Emily-May Burke was presented with a cheque from the Catenian Association’s bursary fund by the President of Weston-super-Mare Circle, Paul Keenan.
The grant was awarded to assist with her expenses for a visit to Paraguay next month. Emily-May’s trip is organised by the Hillcrest Girls Club and she will take part in a project to build housing for local people. Emily-May will also be and running activities for women and children including teaching basic Catechism and English.
Emily-May, 18, is an active member of the Corpus Christi parish. An altar server and Eucharistic Minister, she also plays the flute in the music group.
