Cathedral Carol Service Christmas Eve BBC Broadcast

A wonderful carol service celebrated in Clifton Cathedral, earlier in December, will be broadcast on BBC Radio Bristol and Somerset Sound this Sunday, Christmas Eve.

The South Gloucestershire Schools Carol Service is an annual highlight of the Christmas celebrations in the Cathedral parish and features on BBC Radio Bristol and Somerset Sound’s ‘Sunday Starts’ which runs from 6.00 am to 10.00 am.

‘Sunday Starts’ presenter Trevor Fry said, "I hope you are able to be with me this Sunday when we enjoy South Gloucestershire Schools' Carol Service, hosted by Clifton Cathedral. It'll be on around ten past eight and you'll be most welcome to tune in."

You can enjoy the Christmas atmosphere superbly captured by Clifton Diocese Director of Music Richard Jeffrey-Gray’s special recording by listening online at the link below.

Cathedral Dean, Canon Robert Corrigan always enjoys the event. He said, “I think it is one of the best kept carol service secrets in Bristol when over 1000 children from the South Gloucestershire’s primary schools come together to sing carols most of which they learn by heart. Their enthusiasm and concentration makes this one of my favourite carol services. However there are no spare seats!”

Trevor added, “It's always a pleasure working with the Cathedral, not just at Christmas, but all year round.”

Bishop Declan will be chatting with Trevor on Christmas Eve about his reflections on the year gone and his hopes for Christmas and the New Year.

The carol service is likely to be in heard again at around 7.10 am on Christmas Day.
