So it’s
Saturday night - who have you been voting for Stacey or Jedward? Do you agree with Louis or Simon? Whoever you think has IT this year, think again! A team of Cheltenham parishioners accompanied by Father Tom Smith, our Assistant Priest at St Gregory’s, are taking to the streets in the run up to Christmas giving out cards asking shoppers “Who has the X Factor this Christmas?’”
Father Tom told
cliftondiocese.com: “Each card is an invitation for shoppers to come to ‘The Real Gift of Christmas’ an evening about the gift of God’s Love and Mercy, revealed to us in the innocent and vulnerable baby Jesus.
“This gift is the ‘IT’ that will continue to make a difference to your life long after Christmas is over. The real gift of Christmas is the best gift we can invite anyone to discover.”
As well as inviting shoppers to the evenings, parishioners at all the weekend Masses are being encouraged to take two cards per family to give to friends who might be interested in finding out more about what Christmas is all about.
Father Tom added: “This venture, to reach out and welcome people who might know little about Christmas, is causing a real buzz in the Cheltenham parishes.
“I believe parishioners are excited to be able to share their faith, which is so precious to them, with others. To share something that makes such a difference to their lives.”
If you are interested in finding out more about ‘The Real Gift of Christmas’ take a look at
St Gregory’s website or if you would like to invite a friend just print off a card yourself to give to them. You can download the card in our multimedia panel on the right.
The first ‘Real Gift of Christmas’ evening takes place on Monday (30 November) at 7.00 pm in the Old Priory, on Clarence Street, just off St Gregory’s Church and there will be another chance to catch it on Monday 21 December at 7.00 pm. Each evening there will be free mince pies and refreshments, everyone is very welcome. And don’t forget you won’t be voted off.
