The Anne Spencer Memorial Lecture is the
University of Bristol Multifaith Chaplaincy’s annual talk.
This year it will be given by
Mona Siddiqui, Professor of Islamic Studies and Public Understanding, Glasgow University.
The event will be introduced by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor David Clarke, and Professor Siddiqui's lecture will be followed by a discussion between her and
Gavin D'Costa, Professor in Christian Theology at the University of Bristol.
The lecture is entitled ‘Christian-Muslim relations: Hope or Challenge?’
It has been organised by the University of Bristol Multifaith Chaplaincy as part of the University of Bristol’s centenary lecture series.
Entry is free, but must be
booked online in advance.
Professor Gavin D'Costa said: “After Pope Benedict's Regensburg lecture, the relation between Islam and Christianity is centre stage. These two religions, the largest in the world today, are pivotal for both the development of the 'common good' in society as well as questions of religious truth. This will be a unique opportunity to learn more on how Muslims view the state of play - with some Catholic input.”
