Christians and Ethical Sensitivity to Animals

Lynne Chitty who is soon to become a Deacon at Gloucester Cathedral is setting up an ecumenical animal welfare prayer group. Lynne’s plans see the majestic Gloucester Cathedral becoming an ecumenical centre for prayerful reflection on a range of subjects. The theology of all of creation is one of those, and Lynne is working closely with Deborah Jones of Catholic Concern for Animals in producing a programme of events about animals and the environment which is bound to attract all those who care about the compassionate Christian treatment of all living creatures.

Thursday 4 May 10.00 am to 3.30 pm
'Animals in poetry'. Quiet day at the Deanery led by Very Reverend Nicholas Bury. Cost £5.00 bring a packed lunch, tea and drinks provided.

Talk by David Neale of Animals Asia on their work through the Tsunami.

Thursday 14 September 10.30 am to 3.30 pm
Quiet day in the Cathedral led by Canon David Hoyle 'Animals in art - a glimpse of glory'. Cost £5.00 bring a packed lunch tea and drinks provided.

Wednesday 4 October 7.30pm
Compline for St Francis Day with an address by the Bishop of Gloucester.
