Clifton Commended

In an age of mass communications the Church needs to be innovative in finding new ways to proclaim the Gospel. This year the Clifton Diocese was short listed for two awards at the annual Andrew Cross Awards Ceremony.

A smart event organised by the Churches' Media Council to celebrate excellence in religious broadcasting, writing and website design. The Churches' Media Council is an agency of churches Together in England, with strong links to other ecumenical bodies in Britain and Ireland, to support Christians working in or with the media and broadcasting authorities.

Father Robert King represented the Clifton Diocese at the Awards Ceremony at the Hayes Conference Centre in Swanick, Derbyshire.

Father Robert accepted two commendations on behalf of the Clifton Diocese. The Western Daily Press' coverage of the Requiem Mass at Clifton Cathedral following the London bombings was commended in the news story category and http://www.cliftondiocese.com in the website category.

Michael Hawkins of Bristol-based Clear Design UK, who designed the Clifton Diocese website said, "The Clifton Diocese website has gone from strength to strength since it's relaunch two years ago. We are delighted that this commendation has recognised the website as being such a useful and important tool in the diocese's work."
