One of our permanent deacons was TV last night (12 January). Deacon Vincent Calder who works in our marriage tribunal was a contributor to the fascinating ‘The Grammar School: A Secret History’ on BBC4.
Deacon Vincent spoke vividly about his time at St Brendan’s School in Bristol. In Deacon Vincent's early days, St Brendan’s was a grammar school in Berkeley Square in Clifton. Nowadays St Brendan’s is a sixth form college based in Brislington.
Deacon Vincent who ministers in our parishes of St Lawrence’s, Chipping Sodbury, St Paul’s, Yate, St Augustine of Canterbury in Downend, and Our Lady of Lourdes and St Bernadette, Kingswood, featured in the programme along with Edwina Currie, Neil Kinnock and Michael Portillo.
