Dynamic New Agency to Support Diocesan Evangelisation

The Catholic Agency to Support Evangelisation (CASE) is the fruit of several years planning and has been created to support, train and resource the Catholic community to share and spread the Faith. The Agency will offer a wide range of training and resources to support parishes, communities, schools, groups and individuals in the vital work of evangelisation. A particular focus of CASE’s work will be the promotion of dialogue between the Gospel and culture, as well as providing information on the Catholic faith to enquirers through the running of the Catholic Enquiry Office.

The four-strong CASE team have spent the last few months visiting every diocese in England and Wales to meet diocesan representatives and listen carefully to the needs of the local Church. This initial consultation process will lead to the development and expansion of the Agency’s existing portfolio of services.

Director of CASE, Mgr Keith Barltrop, says: “The Bishops have entrusted us with an exciting and challenging task. There is already much good work going on within dioceses, and in the months ahead we look forward to working in collaboration with lay people, clergy and religious to build on those successes.”

The CASE website will enable the Catholic community to access free resources and information about evangelisation strategies and programmes. The site, which can be found at http://www.caseresources.org, will also provide information about new movements and communities, and offer prayer support and accompaniment for those involved in evangelisation. Meanwhile, for non-Catholics seeking basic information about the Catholic faith, the CASE team have created a second new internet resource. Please see: http://www.life4seekers.co.uk

The Rt Rev Declan Lang, Bishop of Clifton says, “Pope Paul VI in Evangelii Nuntiandi said very simply and clearly: ‘The Church exists in order to evangelise’. (EN14) Our Christian communities exist because we have heard the Good News proclaimed by Jesus. We are the fruit of evangelisation and we celebrate the presence of our living Lord in our liturgy. We are called to live what we believe and in this way transform the world of which we are part. Today we are entrusted with the good news about the Kingdom of God so that those who feel afflicted in their lives and in their relationships can find freedom and those who are oppressed can be given justice. We are to be a people of hope. Evangelisation is the central mission of the Church in general and of individual Christians in particular.”

If you are interested in learning more about evangelisation, about what it means, and about what CASE has to offer your parish, school, group and/or community, please contact them via their website.

The team ask you to keep their work in your prayers.
