Father Frank Heads to Downend

21 January 2009

Father Frank Bermingham has been appointed Parish Priest of St Augustine of Canterbury in Downend, Bristol by Bishop Declan.

Father Frank moves across the city from Holy Cross in Bedminster.  He succeeds Father Alexander Redman who now ministers as a prison chaplain.

The weekend of 14 and 15 February will see Father Frank take up his duties in the East Bristol parish that includes St John Fisher in Frenchay.

The announcement was made at all Masses in both Downend and Frenchay last weekend (17 and 18 January) by Deacon Peter Hinchey.

Dean of East Bristol, Father Gregory Grant, said: “I know many people join me in welcoming Father Frank to the East Bristol Deanery and we wish him many years of happy and fruitful ministry in his new appointment.”

Bishop Declan will be appointing Father Frank’s successor in Bedminster in the near future.

We look forward to Fr Frank joining us at St Augustine's, we are an active, friendly parish and he will always be welcome at our CWL meetings.
