Father Michael: Thanks for Your Generosity

23 July 2010

The Clifton Diocese Papal Visit Coordinator Father Michael McAndrew talks with us again today (23 July) updating us with news of the generous response to the papal visit collection held recently.

Father Michael explains that thanks to your generosity, the target set for our diocese has been exceeded by at least £3,000.  We were asked to contribute around £34,000 towards the Catholic celebrations during the papal visit and to date around £37,000 has been received.

Father Michael talks to us about this support from people in the Catholic Church in the West of England in today’s podcast which you can listen to in the multimedia panel on the right.  He also tells us of Bishop Declan's appreciation.

Father Michael's previous audio update is still online.  Father Michael will be with us again soon here on cliftondiocese.com passing on all the important papal visit news as soon as he knows it.

There's more papal visit news as Father Michael was featured on the official papal visit website this week.

The official website thepapalvisit.org.uk is the best place to find out the most up-to-date information in the build up to the special time in the life of the Church in our countries.

You can also make your donation towards the visit at the official website.  It's simple, secure and direct.

Father Michael's not the only who's excited about September's visit, our Youth Ministry Coordinator Dave Wheat's organised meetings where young people are preparing for the Holy Father's historic visit.  Meanwhile in Stroud, the parish communities have been preparing in many exciting and innovative ways.

Our striking posters, displayed in all our parishes and many other places, welcoming Pope Benedict XVI to the United Kingdom are available to all.  You can download your copy in the multimedia panel on the right and put them up to welcome the Holy Father and his historic visit.
