Film Makers in Somerset for St Thérèse

1 June 2009

A film crew has been in Somerset to make a video about the forthcoming visits of the relics of St Thérèse of Lisieux.

Many locations were visited by the London-based media professionals led by director James Abbott.

The two-day shoot began in Taunton - Lisieux’s twin town - where our Parish Priest and Dean of Taunton Canon John Cunningham was interviewed.  Locations included the churches of St George and St Teresa of Lisieux, as well Lisieux Way and the town centre.

Filming moved to the village of Butleigh near Glastonbury on the second day where funeral director Adrian Forsey is based.  Adrian is the man responsible for transporting the relics of St Thérèse of Lisieux during the tour of the England and Wales.

Retired Major David Baldwin is a parishioner of Our Lady St Mary of Glastonbury.  He is a former Commando and the logistical manager for the nationwide tour of the relics.  He was also interviewed as part of the film that will be published on a special website set up by the Catholic Communications Network for the visit - catholicrelics.co.uk.

The film aims to inform people about the visit and explain why so many people’s lives are touched by St Thérèse.  The film is now being edited and will be online prior to the start of the tour.

You can listen to James Abbott talking about the making of the film in our podcast in the multimedia panel on the right.

As we look forward to the visits cliftondiocese.com will bring you a series of podcasts where we'll meet people with a special affinity with St Thérèse of Lisieux.
