Sony Gold Award-winning podcast is receiving appreciative comments from many people. Comedian Frank Skinner described it as his “highlight” of the awards.
Last week ‘
The Budgerigar and the Prisoner’ - our inventive exploration of the Advent Season made by
Mary Colwell and featuring Father Robert King - won best internet programme at the ceremony known as the Oscars of radio.
On Monday (18 May) Father Robert King
met up with Father Frederico Lombardi SJ the Director of the Vatican Press Office and Head of
Vatican Radio. You can see our picture of Father Robert and Father Lombardi with the Sony Gold in our image gallery on the right.
Bishop
John Arnold, who chairs of the strategic communications committee of the Bishops’ Conference, has written to offer his congratulations. He called the Sony Gold Award: “Great news for the Church.”
Meanwhile comedian Frank Skinner has also sent his congratulations. Frank was at the event presenting an award. He was sat on the table next to Mary Colwell and congratulated her on the night.
Frank presents a programme on
Absolute Radio every Saturday from 8.00 am to 10.00 am. He told
cliftondiocese.com: “For me, the highlight of the 2009 Sony Awards ceremony was Clifton Diocese winning a gold.
“It was a great achievement and showed that merit is more important than marketing.”
Locally, Phil Gibbons Station Manager of
BCfm 93.2 - community radio for Bristol said: “Well done for winning the Gold award at the Sony’s. This is major recognition.”
Father Robert said: “On the eve of
