From Australia: Maria’s Moving On

14 July 2008

Maria Brennan is a parishioner at Clifton Cathedral and she’s just began a memorable trip to Australia for World Youth Day (WYD). Maria’s keeping a diary for cliftondiocese.com and this is her fifth entry.

Yesterday (Sunday 13 July) I enjoyed a relaxing day with my host family starting with Mass at 10.00 am at the end of which my Dad and I presented flowers on behalf of Clifton, Portsmouth and Plymouth pilgrims to Sally-Anne and Jacqui from St Simon's parish who have  been so helpful in making our visit such a success.

Later I went out for lunch and then to a forest area to view some colourful birds – you can see me looking for them in the pictures I’ve sent back. I had one last photo with my host family before an early night in preparation for the journey to Sydney.

As I write we have just arrived after a 12 hour coach journey at the Meriton Apartments in Sydney. They are really lovely and we are all very grateful to Ronnie Mitchinson at the Clifton Diocese and others back home for organising such terrific accommodation.
