6 September 2010
Father Peter Cornwell begins our new podcast series on Cardinal John Henry Newman today (6 September). Father Peter introduces us to the man Pope Benedict XVI’s coming to England to beatify.
Father Peter has a particular insight into Cardinal Newman as he’s a former Vicar of Newman’s old church in Oxford - the University Church of St Mary the Virgin.
You can listen to the ‘Getting to Know Newman’ podcast and download a transcript in the multimedia panel on the right.
Tomorrow (7 September) ‘Newman the Pastor’ helps us get to know the great Englishman whose ministry touched so many people.
‘Battered Newman’ is Wednesday’s (8 September) episode. Father Peter gives us insights into difficulties Newman faced.
Thursday (9 September) brings us ‘To Live is to Change - Newman the Thinker’ where Father Peter explains Newman’s relevance today.
Our series culminates on Friday (10 September) with ‘Journey’s End’ when we conclude our programmes on Newman and his unremitting search for God.
The series is written and presented by Bath-based Father Peter and produced by cliftondiocese.com.
The series is being used by BBC stations as well. BBC Radio Bristol and BBC Somerset are playing the series as part of the popular ‘Sunday Starts’ presented by Trevor Fry. ‘Sunday Starts’ is on every Sunday from 6.00 am to 10.00 am - a place where you can hear plenty more about faith and community in our area.
