In Need of Some Intellectual Stimulation?

27 February 2008

‘Sharia’a In The City’.  That’s the lead article of the Online Journal of the British Jesuits, ‘Thinking Faith’.  According to the writer, the furore over the Archbishop of Canterbury’s remarks about the inevitability of Sharia’a Law in the UK, paid little attention to the City, where English and Sharia’a law are already working well together.

Such is the nature of this website.  Operated by Jesuit Media Initiatives, a work of the British Province of the Society of Jesus, it’s a forum for robust, well-written articles on all aspects of news and current affairs, from a Catholic point of view.

Zimbabwean elections, the future of Kenya in the wake of the recent violence, Lenten Fasts and Islam, the ethics of global warming, the science-religion debate, reflections on Feast days.  There is a whole host of good quality, solid material to get your teeth into here.

Written mainly by Jesuits in different parts of the world, articles are added every few days.  It’s a free site with the option to subscribe to updates.  The search facility is not up and running yet, but on the whole the site is well worth looking at if you’re in need of some intellectual stimulation – the films reviews are particularly good!
