One of our students for the priesthood Isidore Obi recently spent a week sharing Father Bob Rainbow’s parish house at
St John Fisher in Wellington. The experience is part of a long-term pastoral placement in the Taunton Deanery.
During Isidore’s time in Father Bob’s parish he endeared himself to Wellington parishioners by delivering short but crisp sermons; by visiting parishioners in their homes and generally taking a full part in all parish activities.
Father Bob told
cliftondiocese.com: “So many people wanted to invite him for meals that once or twice he was eating out twice in a day!”
It was all part of gaining hands-on experience of parish life, ready for ordination. Father Bob added: “It really was wonderful to have Isidore here and to see the welcome he was given. He was marvellous company and a big help to me. We will all be following his progress to priesthood with great interest and lots of prayers.”
Isidore began his studies for priesthood with a missionary order in his native Nigeria. He has now been in this country for three years and is completing the academic side of his formation at St John’s Seminary Wonersh near Guildford.
