There’s a great opportunity to meet with, and learn from, one of the
country’s most popular composers and performers when Graham Kendrick
comes to Clifton Cathedral in Bristol on Saturday 4 March. The special
event is entitled ‘Graham Kendrick - sharing his music and the stories
behind it’.
The composer of the popular ‘Shine, Jesus Shine’ and many other
inspiring Christian songs will be leading a workshop and master class
from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm. Open to all musicians, singers and anyone with
an interest in learning more about music, the workshop will take place
in the acoustically vibrant Cathedral and provide a rare opportunity to
share some of Graham’s musical insights.
The concert begins at 7.30 pm and is sure to include many of Graham’s
well-known songs which recently saw him voted, by Songs of Praise
viewers, as one on the nation’s all-time favourite hymn writers.
Graham is returning to Clifton Cathedral following his well-received
performing and presenting role in the BBC’s Advent television series
‘Stranger in the manger?’ which featured two live broadcast’s from
Bristol’s unique Catholic Cathedral which were aired on BBC One and
seen across the globe on BBC World.
Graham Kendrick said: “I’m really looking forward to returning to
Bristol - it was a great way to spend Christmas morning! I hope people
from across the West Country will be able to come to Clifton’s
wonderful Cathedral and take part in what promises to be an enjoyable
and worthwhile day.”
Gill McLorinan, from Clifton Cathedral’s Music Department, is the
event’s organiser and is delighted the Cathedral can attract performers
of Graham’s calibre. She said: “I’m delighted Graham Kendrick is able
to be come to Bristol and share his music and the stories behind it. I
know that many people are inspired by his music and will welcome the
opportunity to enjoy his performance and listen to some of the most
popular songs of worship around. I’m sure his popularity will draw in
many people from around the West Country and I look forward to
welcoming them all to the Cathedral.”
