The Bishops’ Conference website is bringing us a fascinating and inventive series of podcast reflections for Lent. The series relates the Gospel readings to movies thanks to the talent and creativity of film expert Father Peter Malone MSC.
Father Peter relates 60 movies to the Gospel in a series of short reflections, one for each day of Lent. A new reflection is published every day.
The wonderfully presented reflections are available as podcasts, and documents which includes artwork from the film.
Our own ‘Cultural Cleric’ Father Robert King welcomes the innovative reflections, which follow the successful filmic reflections Father Peter brought to us in Advent.
Father Robert told cliftondiocese.com: “Most films, in the west, tell the redemptive story of at least one character. Father Peter Malone and the Bishops’ Conference website’s ‘The Gospel and the movies’ Lent reflections are an excellent way to help us understand the Sunday readings in the context of the ongoing call to holiness and the place of repentance and redemption within our own journeys in faith.”
You can listen to, read and download the reflections at catholicchurch.org.uk.
Don't forget, there's plenty more about Lent on the Bishops' Conference website.
