The Lord Mayor of Bristol Councillor Christopher Davies welcomes Bristol people from diverse backgrounds to a special event to celebrate faith and hope. One of our priests plays a key role.
All are welcome to the celebration in the Council House on College Green on Thursday 18 March at 7.00 pm.
There will be song, readings, poetry and prayers as civic leaders recognise the valuable contribution made by people of faith to life in our city.
Father Richard McKay of our inner-city Bristol parish St Nicholas of Tolentino is the master of ceremonies.
Father Richard told cliftondiocese.com: “The theme of the celebration is hope. The presence of so many faiths in Bristol is something we can rejoice in and gives us hope as we continue to build our strong and vibrant community.
“As well as the wonderful celebrations through music, prayer and readings, they’ll be a light buffet and the opportunity to chat informally. You’re all invited.”
The annual Civic Inter Faith Celebration is organised by the Bristol Inter Faith Group which builds positive links between religious groups and the wider community.
Father Richard’s made a podcast to tell us more about this special occasion . You can listen to it in the multimedia panel on the right.
