Lots of Lourdes

25 August 2008

Bishop Declan is in Lourdes leading many pilgrims from around the diocese on the annual pilgrimage to the French shrine.  This 150th anniversary year pilgrimage is attracting coverage from many media sources.

Not only is cliftondiocese.com providing in-depth coverage with podcasts, pictures and video direct from Lourdes; the pilgrimage has been reported on many websites, on the radio and in several newspapers.  The BBC Bristol website and BBC Wiltshire website have stories about local people living out their faith by going to Lourdes.

On the radio - Bishop Declan was a guest on BBC Radio Bristol and BBC Somerset’s ‘Sunday Starts’.  He spoke live from the Crowned Statue of Our Lady in the domain in Lourdes.  Father Barnabas Page, Parish Priest of The Forest of Dean told listeners of BBC Radio Gloucestershire about his time so far during the pilgrimage.  Like Bishop Declan, he was talking live from the domain in Lourdes.  Meanwhile BCfm’s ‘Face to Faith’ has been specially extended to cover the pilgrimage and is coming direct from Lourdes at 3.00 pm today (25 August).  But if don’t live in Bristol or miss the programme - you can listen to it any time on the ‘Face to Faith’ website.

cliftondiocese.com continues to bring you regular podcasts and pictures from Lourdes - so people back home can feel that they are part of the pilgrimage.

cliftondiocese.com has brought you - direct from Lourdes - news of the pilgrims’ arrival.  There's been a podcast from Bishop Declan encapsulating the Lourdes story and a further podcast with the sounds of the opening Mass

Tomorrow we'll bring you two podcasts from the torchlight procession as well as a video clip.

Throughout the year a series of podcasts entitled ‘Lourdes Lives’ has been published weekly on cliftondiocese.com.  ‘Lourdes Lives’ features local people who have visited Lourdes talking about their, sometimes life changing, experiences.
