Pilgrims from around the Clifton Diocese have arrived in Lourdes as their pilgrimage to the French shrine gets underway. We bring you a podcast from the airport as we talk with pilgrims awaiting departure as the anticipation builds.
Bishop Declan who is
leading the diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes this week (Friday 22 August to Friday 29 August) was on the packed flight to the town at the foot of the Pyrenees.
Many Catholics from the West of England are with the Bishop marking the 150th anniversary of the French town becoming a place of pilgrimage.
cliftondiocese.com is bringing you regular podcasts and pictures from Lourdes - so people back home can feel that they are part of the pilgrimage.
You can listen to today’s podcast in the multimedia panel on the right. As well as speaking with pilgrims at the airport we were fortunate enough to chat with the pilot who flew the pilgrims to Lourdes.
We have a have few pictures taken upon arrive in Lourdes which can be viewed in the image gallery - just click on the small photographs for the full picture.
There’s also the opportunity to hear from Bishop Declan
live from Lourdes on BBC radio this Sunday (24 August).
Throughout the year a series of podcasts entitled ‘
Lourdes Lives’ has been published weekly on
cliftondiocese.com. ‘Lourdes Lives’ features local people who have visited Lourdes talking about their, sometimes life changing, experiences.
