One of the most famous activities that takes place in Lourdes is the nightly torchlight procession. We bring you a podcast direct from Lourdes to give you an idea of what it’s like to be part of this amazing spectacle. Pilgrimage Director Deacon Trevor Jones talks us through the procession which concluded with Bishop Declan giving the blessing to the 30,000 people from around the world whose faith had brought them to Lourdes.
We have two podcasts from the procession - a briefer version and an extended version which contains more singing and further detail described by Deacon Trevor.
As well as the podcast featuring Deacon Trevor and the pictures in our image gallery, we have a short mobile phone video to give you a further insight into the procession which is a highlight for many Lourdes pilgrims.
Bishop Declan is
leading the diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes this week (Friday 22 August to Friday 29 August). He is joined by many Catholics from the West of England marking the 150th anniversary of the French town becoming a place of pilgrimage.
cliftondiocese.com is bringing you regular podcasts and pictures from Lourdes - so people back home can feel that they are part of the pilgrimage.
You can listen to our podcasts and see the mobile phone video in the multimedia panel on the right.
cliftondiocese.com has brought you - direct from Lourdes - news of the
pilgrims’ arrival. We also have a podcast from Bishop Declan encapsulating the
Lourdes story and a further audio experience of the sounds of the
opening Mass. We have an article with a collection of
reports on our pilgrimage by local media and yesterday we brought you
Mass for the Clifton Diocese with both a podcast and a video.
Throughout the year a series of podcasts entitled ‘
Lourdes Lives’ has been published weekly on
cliftondiocese.com. ‘Lourdes Lives’ features local people who have visited Lourdes talking about their, sometimes life changing, experiences.
