Cathedral parishioner and award-winning radio producer Mary Colwell features in the current issue of a Catholic magazine.
Justice is the Catholic magazine focusing on international justice from a Catholic point of view.
Justice is out now and available in parishes and by mail order. Some branches of WHSmith stock it.
In the current issue Mary Colwell writes about the eathquake in Haiti.
Justice Editor Lee Siggs told cliftondiocese.com: "This is the first issue of justice since the earthquake in Haiti. There is little which can be said here which hasn’t already been said in many other places - the loss of life on such an astronomical scale was simply beyond comprehension. In this issue, we have attempted to answer a couple of questions which people have asked since the devastating day back in January. Firstly, ‘where was God and why did He allow such a dreadful event to happen?’ This question, which is one frequently posed to Christians in the aftermath of natural disasters is, I believe, sympathetically addressed by Mary Colwell. Secondly, we have looked ahead to the forthcoming months and years for Haiti. Tara Holmes spoke to Catholic aid workers who are only at the very start of trying to determine the help that will be needed in the future.
"One theme which has been echoed in this first section of the magazine is that, despite the horror of the earthquake, society in Haiti has now been presented with an opportunity; that is, to ensure that the poverty and corruption which plagued the country prior to January 2010 is made to be a thing of the past.
"This month also sees the 30th anniversary of the death of Archbishop Oscar Romero. Read Fatherr Tony Lester’s testimony to Romero’s work and visit the website of the Romero Trust to find out more about anniversary events."
Mary has written for previous issues of Justice.
The magazine is a full colour, 68 page bi-monthly title looking at the full spectrum of justice issues, from the Catholic perspective.
