Mass Celebrated at Glastonbury

Father Robert King, the Chaplain to the University of Bristol celebrated a well-attended Mass on Sunday morning at the Glastonbury Festival.

Father Robert said, “The Glastonbury Festival is unique – as an enormous international festival for contemporary performing arts in a Somerset farm. The Sanctuary Marquee provides an excellent welcome from the local Church with support for festival goers. It was a privilege to join both dedicated volunteers and Glastonbury devotees for the celebration of Mass. It was for me a real example of the Church’s continuing engagement in today’s world.”

John Scott, Glastonbury Festival IT Manager and parishioner at St Catharine’s, Frome, attended the Mass. He said, “Mass was very dramatic – we could hear the national youth orchestra performing on the pyramid stage as we began and were surrounded by people waking up in exceptional surroundings of the Sanctuary Marquee.”
