Matthew - A Gospel with Attitude

3 September 2010
Location: St John’s Parish Hall
Address: South Parade, Bath BA2 4AF
Time: 7.30 pm

A talk and discussion entitled 'Matthew - A Gospel with Attitude: Telling an old story with a new twist' led by Father Nick King SJ of Campion Hall, Oxford.

Matthew's gospel has in recent years slightly retreated into the shadows, as people nowadays tend to favour Mark's Gospel, since it was written first. This talk will explore how Matthew, the first reviser of and commentator on Mark's Gospel shaped his project to speak to the Church of his day, especially in the way he reshaped what he found in Mark.

This is the part of a series of informal discussions - The Christian Faith in the 21st Century - encouraging Catholics to explore the relation between their faith and important contemporary ideas.

They'll be coffee and biscuits available and all are welcome.

When you arrive entering at the top car park, go left down four steps and into the door on the right.
