Ministering to the Army

With the news that Clifton Cathedral Dean, Monsignor Canon Robert Corrigan, is to become a Chaplain in the Royal Army Chaplains Department, cliftondiocese.com takes a look at the history of army chaplaincy.

The Army’s website provide fascinating historical details ministering to the military which has been an integral part of the British Army since 1796, when a Royal Warrant was issued. Although clergymen have always been involved in the Army as ministers of Word and Sacrament, or indeed as military leaders.
