Ministry of the Door

23 January 2008

To highlight this Sunday’s (27 January) Homelessness Sunday cliftondiocese.com visits a Bristol parish working everyday with people with nowhere to live.

Homelessness Sunday is an annual day of ecumenical prayer and action marked by over 2,000 churches in England, Scotland and Wales.

One of the parishes in the Clifton Diocese making a remarkable contribution to the lives of homeless people is St Nicholas of Tolentino in inner-city Bristol.  Volunteers run a very special ministry - ‘The Ministry of the Door’.  cliftondiocese.com went to talk with the people involved in this everyday activity for the people of St Nick’s parish.

You can listen to and download our podcast in the multimedia panel on the right.  We talk with volunteers and Chris who is a recipient of ‘The Ministry of the Door’.

St Nick’s will also be featured on this Sunday’s (27 January) BBC Radio Bristol and BBC Somerset’s ‘Sunday Starts’.  Alex Lewis meets Parish Priest, Father Richard McKay, volunteer Kevin Byrne and many others during her visit to find out more about the ‘The Ministry of the Door’.

‘Sunday Starts’ is presented by Trevor Fry and is on air from 6.00 am to 10.00 am every Sunday.
