The Catholic parish of St Patrick’s in Bristol’s Redfield is unique in the diocese as it boasts its own parish charity shop. It’s on Church Road – the high street for Redfield. The shop is full of characters and people dropping in for a chat and a little bit of shopping.
Delegates from across South Wales and Herefordshire took part in a conference held at Llantarnam Abbey, Cwmbran, to look at what the faith response should be from the Catholic community in Wales to the real and present challenges of climate change. ‘Sharia’a In The City’. That’s the lead article of the Online Journal of the British Jesuits, ‘Thinking Faith’. According to the writer, the furore over the Archbishop of Canterbury’s remarks about the inevitability of Sharia’a Law in the UK, paid little attention to the City, where English and Sharia’a law are already working well together.

A Catholic university student in Bristol has made a film about his experience of life as a student and his involvement with the Church in which encourages new students to come along to the Chaplaincy.
More than 500 people gathered in the Cathedral to celebrate the Rite of Election which is traditionally held on the first Saturday in Lent. The congregation included 135 Candidates and Catechumens with their sponsors, godparents, families and friends, and in many cases their parish priest and the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) group as well. Catechumens are those who are asking to be baptised, while Candidates are people. The Rite of Election is a call to continuing conversion for those who will be received into the Church at Easter.
Details of summer camps entitled ‘Living Your Faith’ have been announced. The events for children aged between seven and 11, and 12 and 15 take place this August.
