Once Upon A World - audio book of bedtime Bible stories

30 September 2008

Local Catholic Dominic Cotter has played a key role in bringing, a wonderful collection of Bible recordings by the ‘Dad’s Army’ favourite John Le Mesurier, to light.

Broadcaster Dominic is the son of Lord Cotter of Congresbury, the former MP for Weston-super-Mare, and one of the team behind ‘Once Upon A World’ - a podcast series of bedtime Bible stories for children.

The late John Le Mesurier was a great British comedy actor known for a plethora of British films, and notably for his portrayal of Sergeant Wilson in the BBC television comedy classic, ‘Dad’s Army’.   His recordings of Robert Duncan’s stories have been now been made available digitally.  Originally recorded in 1977 and now remastered, Once Upon A World presents a happy combination of faith and humour that will appeal to families both remote from and close to the Christian faith.

With stories selected from the Old and New Testaments, the fresh clear style of author Robert Duncan combines superbly with the wry and gentle humour of the late John Le Mesurier, one of Britain’s most distinctive and loved voices.

There is even a selection of free download from the Once Upon A World website giving you the opportunity to try before you buy.

We bring you some of the podcasts to give you an idea of what’s on offer.  You can listen to, or download it in our multimedia panel on the right.
