Ongoing Formation National Gathering

30 November 2009

Three of our priests have taken part in a national meeting sharing good practice in the field of ongoing formation for priests.

Father Christopher Whitehead the Director of our Department for Ongoing Formation for Priests, along with Father Michael McAndrew the former Director of our Department for Adult Education and Evangelisation and Father Tom Smith our Assistant Priest in Cheltenham, represented our diocese at the meeting in Malta.  As well as picking up good new ideas listening to what’s happening in the other dioceses in England and Wales, the priests received positive feedback from their colleagues about our recent publications resulting from ‘Called to be a People of Hope’ - our diocesan pastoral guidelines.

Father Christopher tells us more about the meeting in our podcast in the multimedia panel on the right.  Father Tom Smith also gives his thoughts on the conference and the importance of ongoing formation for priests.

You can download the publications our priests shared with their colleagues from around the county from our 'Called to be a People of Hope' publications page.

The current Year for Priests is proving to be a busy time for Father Christopher and our Department of Ongoing Formation for priests.  Last week they put on an important study day for clergy and our ‘Handbook for Priests’ has been published and distributed to all our priests.
