On Shrove Tuesday, the world concern group at Holy Family parish in Swindon with the help of some of the Presentation Associates held their annual pancake, cheese and wine evening, in aid of the Kaoma Orphanage in Zambia. The orphanage is run by the Presentation Sisters, who are our local parish nuns in St Michael’s Convent where the event is held.
It is a very popular event and as usual was very well supported, with a very generous supply of pancakes and raffle prizes donated by parishioners; one of the highlights is a beautiful homemade cake donated annually which is raffled separately and creates a great deal of excitement. It was great success with lots of fun and laughter, as well as raising £757.10 for the Kaoma Orphanage.
World concern has been able to add £242.90 from collections. A cheque for £1,000.00 has been sent to the Kaoma Orphanage.
As usual, everyone agreed that it was definitely the best year ever.
