Papal Visit Update with Father Michael

2 June 2010

Clifton Diocese Papal Visit Coordinator Father Michael McAndrew looks back on a busy weekend of radio appearances and forward to the Pope's meeting with local children at 'The Big School Assembly'.

On Sunday (30 May) Father Michael was on BBC Radio Gloucestershire as well as BBC Radio Bristol and BBC Somerset.  He talked about the busy few days he's had since taking on the new role and how the people making up the Catholic Church in the West of England can be part of the Holy Father's historic visit to the UK.

In today's (2 June) podcast Father Michael tells us how the interviews with BBC Gloucestershire’s Richard Atkins and BBC Radio Bristol and BBC Somerset’s Trevor Fry went.  Father Michael enjoyed travelling to Gloucester to meet Richard and answer important questions about the forthcoming visit.  On Sunday 13 June Father Michael is off to Swindon and the BBC Wiltshire studio to talk with Mark Jones on the Sunday breakfast programme.

Father Michael looks forward to the 'The Big School Assembly' led by the Pope.  He has been in touch with all our schools to let them know about this unique occasion and to give them details about how they can be part of it.

Father Michael's initial focus is towards our young people.  As well as contacting all of the schools throughout the four counties making up our diocese, he has spoken with all our parish priests to arrange for a young parishioner to be part of the Holy Father's prayer vigil in central London.

You can listen to Father Michael's podcast in the multimedia panel on the right.
