Praise for thepapalvisit.org.uk

16 March 2010

Having been online for just a matter of hours the new website celebrating Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to the United Kingdom has been impressing one of our priests.

thepapalvisit.org.uk is the official website for the apostolic visit and is the place for all the latest information about the visit.

Father Robert King, our Chaplain to the University of Bristol has been looking through the site which is packed full of information, audio, video and pictures.

He told cliftondiocese.com:  “thepapalvisit.org.uk is an excellent website dedicated to the forthcoming visit of Pope Benedict XVI.  The Holy Father encourages the use of contemporary digital media, and the website is an innovative yet informative resource for Catholics here in the Clifton Diocese and throughout the UK.

“Presenting a variety of voices through a spectrum of media, the website will help build and establish momentum for the first ever state visit of a Pope to the UK - the last papal visit being a pastoral one at the request of the Church.

“The Pope is coming at the kind invitation of Her Majesty Queen, and thepapalvisit.org.uk provides essential information about this special visit and its nature.  Details of the itinerary are already available and more will follow in the coming months.  I recommend we keep visiting thepapalvisit.org.uk to stay well informed.”

cliftondiocese.com brought you Bishop Declan's reaction earlier, more local reaction in a special podcast, the Papal visit preparation prayer, as well as a video message from the Archbishop of Westminster, Most Reverend Vincent Nichols.

This is going to be a great occasion for everyone in Scotland. When the holiness the pope comes to say mass in our great country.

I was baptised and joined the Church at easter vigil this year. I saw the Pope in Rome in 2006 and I am looking forward to seeing him in England.
