Prayerful Support for Burma

13 May 2008

The Bishops of England and Wales have sent a message of prayerful support to the bishops and people of Burma.

In response to the devastation and suffering caused by Cyclone Nargis, Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor has written to the President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Myanmar (Burma) to assure him of the prayerful support of the Bishops of England and Wales.

The Cardinal wrote to Archbishop Paul Zinghtung Grawng of Mandalay saying, “We are united in faith and solidarity with our brother Bishops as you minister to the needs of the priests, religious and people in your pastoral care.”

The message and Archbishop Paul Zinghtung Grawng’s reply can be read in full at the Bishop’s Conference website.
